North West 200 Official Coach Partner | Executive Travel NI Behind the Scenes at Race Week
May 11, 2026
Every year the Causeway Coast comes alive to the sound of racing engines as the Briggs Equipment North West 200 returns to the North Coast. From Portrush to Portstewart and Coleraine, race week transforms the area into one of the biggest motorsport festivals anywhere in the world, attracting riders, teams and fans from across the globe.

For us at Executive Travel NI, being involved in the 2026 event as an Official Coach Partner was something we were incredibly proud of, not just as a business, but as a local family with deep motorsport roots and a genuine passion for the North Coast.
Over the last number of months we worked closely with the organisers of the Briggs Equipment North West 200 to help plan and deliver transport logistics throughout race week, supporting a packed programme of activities both on and off the famous Triangle circuit.
From Newcomer sighting laps and rider movements, to VIP tours and steward transport, race week was a perfect example of how transport and event planning play a major role behind the scenes at large scale events.
Planning Starts Long Before Race Week
Events on the scale of the North West 200 do not happen overnight. Long before the first bike rolled onto the grid, organisers, marshals, volunteers, riders and support teams were working behind the scenes to prepare for one of the busiest weeks of the year on the Causeway Coast.

As a company with years of experience supporting major events, we understand that transport logistics can often be one of the biggest challenges. Timing, road closures, rider schedules, changing weather conditions and public safety all have to work together seamlessly.
That is where our experience as a family-run coach and executive travel business helped.
Over the years we have had the privilege of working alongside organisers and partners during events such as The Open Championship, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and numerous large corporate and sporting events across Northern Ireland and Ireland.
Working at events of this size gives you an understanding of how important flexibility, communication and reliability really are.

During the North West 200, schedules can change quickly. Delays, weather interruptions and race incidents mean organisers need transport partners who can react immediately and keep things moving safely and professionally throughout the day.
Helping Newcomers Learn the Famous Triangle
One of the highlights of our involvement this year was assisting with the Newcomer sighting laps around the famous 8.9 mile Triangle circuit.
The North West 200 is one of the fastest road racing circuits in the world and for riders competing for the first time, understanding the roads, braking points and course layout is absolutely vital before race week begins.

This year’s newcomer programme welcomed riders from across the UK and Europe, with induction laps led by eight-time NW200 race winner and Rider Liaison Officer Steve Plater.
Using our executive coaches, riders were guided around the circuit while experienced racers and officials explained the unique characteristics of the course, from the high-speed run towards University Corner to the technical sections around Station Road and Amici Corner.

For many newcomers it was their first real opportunity to experience the roads away from onboard videos.
As a local company based only minutes away from the circuit, it was fantastic to play a part in helping introduce new riders to one of the most iconic road racing venues anywhere in the world.
Supporting Riders, Stewards and Race Operations Throughout the Week
Race week itself was incredibly busy.
Between practice sessions and race schedules, our vehicles were constantly on the move supporting event operations across the Triangle.

That included transporting riders, assisting steward logistics and helping organisers move personnel safely and efficiently between locations throughout the day.
Road racing events are unique because they operate on public roads. Once roads close, movement around the course becomes extremely restricted and careful planning is needed to ensure everyone gets where they need to be safely and on time.
Throughout the week our team worked alongside organisers to adapt transport plans around practice sessions, amended schedules and changing operational requirements.
Following the tragic incident during qualifying earlier in the week, organisers faced the difficult task of restructuring parts of the event timetable while ensuring the event could continue respectfully and safely.
Moments like that remind everyone involved in motorsport just how much preparation, professionalism and teamwork exists behind the scenes.
As a motorsport family ourselves, we fully understand the emotional impact incidents can have on riders, organisers, marshals and supporters alike.
VIP Tours Around the North West 200 Circuit
Another exciting part of race week was supporting the new VIP rider-guided tours around the North West 200 circuit.

These tours gave guests and fans a unique opportunity to experience the Triangle in a completely different way, travelling the course while hearing insight and stories from riders who know every inch of the roads.
For many visitors travelling to Northern Ireland for the first time, it was not only about the racing, it was also about experiencing the scenery and atmosphere of the Causeway Coast itself.
The route between Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine is already one of the most scenic drives anywhere in Ireland, but during race week it becomes something truly special.

Being able to provide executive transport for these tours allowed us to showcase both the event and the local area to visitors from across the world.
Meet the Riders Event in Coleraine
One of the most popular events during race week was the “Meet the Riders” event in Coleraine town centre.
The event gave fans the chance to meet riders including newcomer Storm Stacey, to get autographs, take photographs and soak up the atmosphere away from the track itself.
Executive Travel NI assisted with transporting riders safely to and from the event, helping ensure schedules ran smoothly while allowing supporters to enjoy valuable time with some of the biggest names in road racing.
These community events are an important part of what makes the North West 200 special.

It is not just about racing, it is about the connection between riders, fans, businesses and local communities across the North Coast.
A Huge International Event for Northern Ireland
The North West 200 continues to grow as one of Northern Ireland’s biggest sporting and tourism events.
Every year thousands of visitors travel from across the UK, Ireland and further afield to experience race week, filling hotels, restaurants, cafés and local attractions across the Causeway Coast.

The event brings massive economic benefit to the region while also showcasing Northern Ireland to an international audience.
For local businesses like ours, it is incredibly important to support events that not only celebrate motorsport, but also help promote tourism, hospitality and local communities throughout the North West.
This year’s racing again delivered incredible performances, with riders such as Glenn Irwin and Micheal Dunlop continuing to make headlines during race week.
But beyond the racing itself, it is the people behind the scenes that help make events like this possible, organisers, marshals, volunteers, medics, logistics teams and transport providers all working together under pressure.
Proud to Support Major Events Across Northern Ireland
Being involved in the Briggs Equipment North West 200 was another proud milestone for everyone at Executive Travel NI and the wider Sandy Arthur Group.
As a family-run business with over 40 years of experience in transport and event support, we know how important reliability, professionalism and local knowledge are when working with major events.

Whether it is supporting international golf events like The Open Championship, large music festivals such as BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, or globally recognised motorsport events like the North West 200, our focus remains the same, helping organisers deliver smooth, professional transport operations from start to finish.
Working on events here in Northern Ireland is something we genuinely enjoy because we know the quality of events hosted here can stand proudly on an international stage.
Looking Ahead
As race week comes to a close, we would like to thank the North West 200 organisers, riders, marshals, stewards and fans for welcoming us as part of the event team this year.
It was an honour to play a role in one of the most iconic road racing events in the world, right here on our doorstep along the Causeway Coast.
We look forward to continuing to support major events across Northern Ireland in the future and building further partnerships with organisers who value professional, dependable and experienced transport support.
